Boss Items are special items that are used to initiate a boss fight.
Overview[]
Players from all Teams are able to pick up boss items. Some boss items have a single set spawn location, while others could've been seen scattered across the map. Do take note that some bosses may not require boss items to start a boss fight, take the Cluck Daddy boss fight as an example.
Below is a list of all boss items so far.
Fuse[]
The Fuse was an item that was first seen in the March 30th, 2019 update, where it was used to launch the rocket into the alien egg and start the Cluckles boss fight. Players were able to obtain this item by entering through a teleporter inside of the Testing Lab and completing a short obby. It was removed after the boss fight event ended, until the the June 29th, 2019 update where it was used for the Cargo Plane heist. As of the release of Chapter 2, the fuses can no longer be found in the cargo plane, thus fully removing it from the game.
As stated previously, it was originally used to fuel the rocket located at the Rocket Criminal Base. A single fuse would fill up the rocket fuel bar by 1%, meaning a total of 100% fuses were required to launch the rocket.
Lava Gem[]
The Lava Gem was an item that was added in the July 7th, 2019 update, where it was used as an offering at the top of the Volcano. The lava gem was located inside of a cave, at the side of the volcano. Prior to a mini-update, if a player picked up a lava gem, the cave would fill up with lava which resulted in the player needing to escape quickly.
Players needed to collect five Lava Gems in the volcano's cave and offer them to the volcano, draining it of its lava incrementally, eventually making it safe to enter the boss arena where Kua Kua was located.
Star Crystal[]
The Star Crystal was an item added in the December 15th, 2019 update, where it was used as an offering at the altar in Atlantis. This item would only spawning during nighttime in-game, and was an integral part of starting the Star Lord boss fight. The star crystals could only spawn within the shorelines of the map. Players needed five of these crystals in order to access the boss fight. It was removed after the February 1st, 2020 update.
Egg Key[]
The Egg Key was an item added a day after the April 5th, 2020 update. It was used as an offering at the gazebo structure located at Easter Isle. The egg keys could have been found spawning around the expanded map area. Five must have been collected and placed on the pedestals in the gazebo in order to start the Mech Cluckles boss fight. Each player could have only held one at a time. Some egg keys were neon, which made them a bit easier to spot during the nighttime.
Generator Battery[]
A Generator Battery was an item added in the December 25th, 2020 update. It can be found in one of the shores throughout the map. Unlike other boss items, there was no limit to how many batteries a single player can carry. It was removed on February 4th, 2021, along with Reindeer Boss and the generator, however the general ski lift location was still there until the destruction of the map expansion on May 27th, 2021 update.
It was used to restore power to the generator, each replenishing 50 power. If a player is holding multiple batteries, interacting with the generator will automatically use the amount of batteries necessary to fill the generator. Once it has been filled to 500, up to ten players can join the Boss Fight Level. While players remain in the Boss Fight Level, it will continually drain by 50 power intermittently until no participating players are left.
Celestial Crystal[]
A Celestial Crystal (which is also known as Portal Crystal), was an item added in the June 15th, 2023 update. It was removed on August 21st, 2023 along with Chris P. Bacon. These crystals could have been acquired by destroying meteors. These meteors were found in set locations. Players can use any gun to eradicate the meteor in order to get the crystal. Players could carry more than one crystal in their inventory. Six crystals were needed to activate the boss portal at the Military Base in order to be teleported to the arena of Chris P. Bacon.
Trivia[]
- The Fuse is the only boss item that has been used for a completely different purpose, other than a boss fight.
- The Star Crystal is the only boss item that spawns during nighttime.
- The Generator Battery is the only boss item that allowed players to carry more than one.
- Interestingly, the thumbnail for the June 14th, 2023 update shows a light blue Celestial Crystal instead of a purple one.
