Overview
This page is designed to provide tips for editors, new and experienced. Please read the Manual of Style for editing rules, then check back here for tips. If you still need help with editing feel free to look at any page's source to see how other pages work. Additionally, we have some great editors in the Discord server you can ask.
Basic tips
- All templates involving infobox values have the same usage like Template:Cash and Template:XP.
- Follow Documentation on Templates: When using templates, always refer to their documentation or usage guidelines. Templates can enhance your page's formatting and functionality, but using them incorrectly might lead to unexpected results.
- Use Headings and Subheadings: Organize your content using headings (like == Heading 2 ==) and subheadings (like === Subheading ===). This creates a clear structure and makes it easier for readers to navigate through your page.
- Add Links: Link relevant terms or pages to provide additional context. Use the double square brackets "[[ ]]" to create internal links within your wiki, and remember to use descriptive link text.
- Categorize Pages: Categorizing your pages helps users find related content more easily. Add appropriate categories to the page by including "Category" tags at the bottom.
- Use Images and Media: Visual content enhances your articles. Insert images, videos, and other media using the [[File: ]] syntax or any relevant media insertion tools.
- Keep it Concise: Be concise in your writing. Readers appreciate information that's easy to understand and to the point.
- Preview Before Publishing: Always preview your edits before saving them. This allows you to check how your changes will appear and make any necessary adjustments.
- Source Your Information: When adding facts or information, make sure it's from reputable people like Developers.
- Describe Changes: If you can, try to list what you changed even if it's just a sentence.
- Use Edit History: If you're unsure about making a change, check the page's edit history to see how it evolved over time. This can provide insight into community consensus.
- Regular Maintenance: Periodically review your pages and update them as needed. Content can become outdated, and regular maintenance ensures accuracy.
- Ask for Help: If you're unsure about a specific editing feature or need guidance, don't hesitate to reach out to our experienced editors or administrators.
- Font: Use bold as stated in the Manual of Style. Otherwise, do not use bold, italic, or underlined. These can put unnecessary emphasis on words.
Updating Templates
Try to use all data sets shown in a template for example vehicles
- Class and Type are different categories. Class is a land/sea/aerial or ufo vehicle. Type is mainly the Vehicle's appearance
- You don't need to use value templates such as (
100) or related as the template does that automatically.
- When adding a new vehicle try to have all the information ready if possible. This includes:
- No low value content
- Title (required)
- Chapter (required if seasonal vehicle)
- Season (required if seasonal vehicle)
- Image (required)
- Class (required)
- Type (required)
- Rank (required if seasonal vehicle)
- Cost (required)
- Location (required)
- Durability (required)
- Customizability (required)
- Seating (required)
- Ability (If applicable)
- Addition Date (If applicable)
- Retired Date (If applicable)
