Changes: Hyper Glider

The Hyper Glider is a weaponized single-seater vehicle that was added in the July 26th, 2020 update.

Overview

The Hyper Glider can be purchased at Area 51 for 5,500,000 making it the fourth most expensive cash purchase in game. This vehicle appears to be based on the Oppressor from Grand Theft Auto Online, which in turn is based on the Honda XR 500.

Appearance

It is the third special vehicle following the Thunderbird and Hoverboard, and similarly to them, it is a hybrid of sorts with two modes of transportation. When its glide mode is disabled, it is a standard bike with one seat and nitro regeneration, although it is still able to fire missiles. Like other bikes, its rider is directly exposed to gunfire.

Features

Gliding

The Hyper Glider can be used on land and in the air, the latter of which is faster than the former. When gliding is activated, two sets of wings will expand from the vehicle, although this will have no effect until it has enough vertical clearance (i.e., driving off of a ledge, hitting a ramp, etc.) at which point it will begin to glide. This can also be done by activating Nitro, causing it to wheelie, thereby making it easier to take off.

When using Nitro while gliding, the Hyper Glider will gain momentum in whatever direction it is facing, effectively allowing it to fly for as long as the player has any Nitro remaining. While gliding, it experiences a drastic speed increase, making it one of the fastest vehicles in the game at this state. Nitro does not recharge mid-flight since the Chapter 2 update.

Missiles

The Hyper Glider has the ability to fire missiles that deal 35 damage to enemy players caught in their blast radius. These can be fired indifferently to whether or not gliding is enabled.

- Relocated to the Volcano nearby to Villain Lair, price increased to 5,500,000.

- Damage: 20 -> 35 [BUFF]
August 2nd, 2022:
- Nitro Amount has been halved [NERF]

Trivia

It is one of the six weaponized land vehicles, the others being the Rhino, Night Rider, Incinerator, O66-Terminator, Obliterator and Edge Runner V6.
It is the fourth most expensive vehicle in the game behind the Nighthawk, Incinerator, BRRT, and Raptor.
The Hyper Glider is one of the three only weaponized vehicles that can fire missiles while functioning as a land vehicle, the others being the Obliterator and the Incinerator.
It is tied with the Cyber Plane for having the fastest missile lock-on speed in the game. (As the Cyber Plane is unobtainable, the Hyper Glider could be viewed as the vehicle with the fastest missile lock-on speed.)
The Hyper Glider has the fastest missile fire rate and highest damaging missiles in the game.
This is among the first features worked on by former Schwifty Studios programmer ChiefDays.^[3]
While driving, players cannot equip any items.
The Hyper Glider is the only purchasable vehicle that can glide.
