Public Beta Environment (or PBE for short), is a type of program that allows players to test Mad City updates before they release into the main game.
Overview[]
The program allows experienced players to test new features coming to the game, and also work closely with the developers to give feedback and help shape the future of Mad City.
The Test Servers are not always open but when they are, players are be able to test new features as they are released. This allows players the opportunity to be the first to try out new vehicles, weapons, and other in-game items. It also give players the chance to provide valuable feedback to the developers.
How to Access[]

To enter the Test Server, players are required to at least have Prestige 1 and also must have joined the Schwifty Studios group on Roblox. They must then open the Phone, go to settings and scroll down to see the "Test Server" option, and click it to be teleported.
History[]
Chapter 1 Test Servers[]
The ability for the community to be able to test updates had existed for a long time, there was actually an entirely separate game[1] that one could have accessed whenever it was open to the public. In one of these public test sessions back in June 12th, 2020, an item known as Hero Handcuffs was obtainable by being on the Hero team.
Return of Test Servers[]
The return of this program was first announced January 20th, 2023 in a blogpost[2]. It was originally called "Community Beta Testing". The program was later mentioned yet again in another blogpost[3] talking about the future of the game.
Vector & Downing System Testing Session[]
The program was later made public on March 29th, 2023 where players were able to test the Vector early. The weapon had originally costed 175,000 but was later increased after the release of the March 31st, 2023 update. Data saves and carries onto the main game, meaning that those who had bought the Vector in the test servers, were able to keep and use the weapon upon buying it from the test servers.
The Downing System from Chapter 1 has made a return and has been reworked. A red health marker icon appears at the location of where a downed teammate is at. Players had the option to wait it out, or pressing the "Give Up" option after losing 10 health. The new door models and opening animations were also added into the testing servers a few days afterwards.
Notably, prior to the release of the March 31st 2023 update, a bug appeared where players were seemingly unable to spawn their aerial vehicles via the Aerial Vehicle Spawn Pads. This was patched a day after the update released.
Easter Event 2023 Test Session[]
An Easter update was released in the testing servers during the late hours of April 7th, 2023. This was also announced in the official Mad City Discord, and it was also advised to not spend any Robux during said testing session.
Data still saved, players that had obtained the Shell Rider during the testing session, were able to keep said vehicle permanently. 30 minutes later, the update would be carried onto the main game.
Pack Machines Test Session[]
Both Health and Armor Pack Machines have been added into the testing servers during August 4th, 2023. The Codes app in the Phone has also made a return, with two new testing codes being "TestTwitterCode"[4] and "cash500"[5] being created for this sole purpose.
Nothing much else happened, other than the fact that the icon for the Codes app was changed to the current Twitter "X" logo.
Optimization Test Session[]
On August 11th, 2023, the testing servers were once again opened to the public and announced in the Mad City Discord[6]. Players were told to test and see if the new "Shadows" option in the Phone app would increase or decrease their performance.
Obliterator Test Session[]
The testing servers were enabled in the late hours of August 18th, 2023. Inside of the servers, the Obliterator was purchasable for 5,000,000. The Obliterator dealt 10 damage towards players, 20 damage towards land vehicles, and 40 damage towards aerial vehicles. These stats would carry onto the main game, but would later get changed and buffed.
Money Truck Test Session[]
The servers once again reopened on August 25th, 2023[7]. Players were able to rob the upcoming Money Truck heist, which was interestingly a blue recolor of the JewelryVehicle model. The total amount of cash obtainable from the Truck (assuming players dealt the maximum 10K damage and also had collected the cash that exploded from the Truck), is a grand total of 15,000 /
30,000 cash.
Players were also able to test the upcoming Wallet system, which also gave an additional cash and XP bonus for players who had joined the Schwifty Studios group on the Roblox website. The test server would later close on August 27th, 2023.
Treasure Boat Test Session[]
Servers were silently reopened in late October 2023. Players were able to rob an unannounced Treasure Boat heist, which used the exact same model as the default Boat. The icon for said heist was a reused Bank icon but a gray recolor. The path that the Boat takes happens to be the exact same one as what the Cargo Ship takes, although more pathways were added to it once it had properly released on November 1st, 2023.
