The Research Area was a small outpost which was used in time of the Chapter 2 Live Event.

Overview

The Research Area is directly above the now caved-in Bunker. Both the Research Area, and the Bunker are situated next to the desert, where the Pyramid is situated. The Research Area was added on the May 21st, 2022 update of Season 7, as part of the Pre-Chapter 2 update.

On May 4, 2023, Research Area was removed from the game along with Bunker.

Features

Research Area

This location composed of giant speakers, satellite communicators, two computers (which Defaultos might have hijack them), high power transformer boxes as a emergency alarm system in the city, and a giant red button which might be used in the Chapter 2 Live Event. An helipad was added later in time of Chapter 2.

The Bunker

There is a bunker that has under the station which holds an elevator that leads to the portal during the second Live Event, where players needed to evacuate, along with a player holding the hard drive containing the files of Mad City maps from Schwifty Studios HQ when it opens, in the time Defaultos destoryed the whole map. The Bunker remains on Chapter 2 after the second Live Event, but its functionality still unknown.

Portal

The portal has an unknown cactus-like shape silhouette (which is actually the Mad City map) where the players could possibly jump in the portal in time for the destruction of Mad City. The portal was used in Chapter 2 Live Event, however Defaultos hijacked it and enter inside the portal, teleporting players to The Aether where all the buildings and other remains of Chapter 1 floating, instead to Chapter 2.

Computer flashed with a "Hi there. -d", which this message might be from Defaultos. Both computers flashed with the same message.

Trivia

• Since the July 11th, 2022 update, the satellite communicator was faced toward the purple cube on the crater of the volcano, where the destroyed Villain Lair's tower was located. The satellite waves sent a red signal instead of white.
  • The satellite was destroyed in Chapter 2 update.
• There is a flare just near the bunker's passage. The purpose of the flare is still unknown.
  • The flare is later used on red weapon crates on Chapter 2 as a signal for players.
• Two new notes were added on the top of the research area, and the bunker:
  • On the bunker: "I fear we are too late... the end is coming..."
  • On the top of the research area: "We have intercepted a signal, whatever or whoever it is coming from has compromised our monitoring systems. Whatever this is, is not from the world."
• The portal was removed on July 11th, 2022 update, but it was reinstated in a separate Roblox place of the Chapter 2 Live Event.
• There was a helipad spawn in the research area in the Chapter 2 update, but it was later removed on August 19th, 2022 update.
• Prior to Chapter 2, going behind the giant speakers where are strings of lights hanging, one of the pillars has CLB>DONDA written behind it.
  • This might be a reference for both studio albums from Canadian rapper Drake's Certified Lover Boy (CLB, released on September 3rd, 2021), and American rapper Kanye West's Donda (released on August 29th, 2021) being compared.
