The Aether is an alternative dimension that is the home to Defaultos. It is an alternative version of the Mad City world, but covered in an unidentified purple substance.
History
The Aether first appeared in mid-July 2020 during the Red House Mystery event. There was a code players had to put in order to see the cutscene between Cluckles and the Shadow Figure.
This location reappeared on July 23rd, 2022 during the Season 7 live event. Players entered a portal to a different part of this dimension. All relics from Chapter 1 were floating around. A giant Defaultos appeared and collided both worlds leaving Chapter 1 non-existent.
Lore significance
The Aether is an important part in Mad City's lore, as the antagonist of the game, Defaultos, resides there. Many of the story events and boss fights have something to do with Defaultos, and take place in The Aether.
