The Volcano was a location in Mad City that was located right next to the Prison.
Overview
It used to be behind the Hero Base (Seasons 4-7) in Chapter 1 but was moved in Chapter 2. It used to be active in early Chapter 1 seasons but became inactive later. As of May 4th, 2023, the Volcano was removed for unspecified reasons.
History
2019 Events & Changes
As mentioned previously, the volcano was active in early Chapter 1, Season 1 to be exact. When erupting, it would spew out giant red meteors that would kill any player that touches it. The cave under the Volcano served as the location for the Hero Base up until the release of Season 4.
Upon Season 3's release, the exterior of the Volcano received relatively minor changes which at first only included the expansion it had back in Season 1. Later on however, the Volcano erupted on June 15th, 2019 which resulted in the destruction of a nearby nuclear power plant, as well as the Testing Lab, the Café, and a house in Sandy Suburbs. On July 7th, 2019, it served as the location for the Kua Kua boss fight.
Upon the release of the Season 4 Update on August 24th, 2019, the offering hut was removed, and the hero base was replaced by the Villain lair.
2020-2021 Changes
Ziplines were added to the Volcano in an update in early 2020.
During the Season 6 live event, Kua Kua reemerged and destroyed the Villain Lair tower on top of the Volcano.
In the May 27th, 2021 Update, a purple cube appeared at the top of the volcano, and got progressively larger as Season 7 progressed, leading to the Season 7 live event.
Present Changes
In Chapter 2, the Volcano increased in size, with lava covering the northern area of the map and two giant red cooling towers and multiple lava pipes around the area. The Hyper Glider was relocated here. An helipad and Warehouse for Jewelry store drop off was added here.
During winter seasons, the lava turned neon blue. During spring seasons, the lava turned neon pink.
On the February 3rd, 2023 update, the Chaos was added near the Villain Lair entrance.
On May 4th, 2023, the Volcano was removed entirely. The Hyper Gilder, Chaos and Villain Lair were relocated to Area 51.
Trivia
- The Hero Base used to be located here but was replaced by the Villain lair upon the release of Season 4.
- The Chapter 2 version of the Volcano is much larger than the Chapter 1 versions.
- A dirt path shrouded in smoke leads from the road all the way to the crater of the volcano; it is nearly impossible to navigate at night due to the lack of functional headlights on cars.
